I've got a fever, and the only cure is...
Of all the things the doctor mentioned I might have, I really hope it's this one:

Giardiasis (also known as beaver fever)

Just so I could have the following conversation with people:

Friend/Family member: So, how are you feeling? Did they find out what was making you sick?

Me: Oh, yeah they did. I had beaver fever.

Friend/Family member: ???


It sounds like a really bad euphemism. Either for greatly desiring women, or for menstruation. I can't decide which is funnier!


I have to somehow find humor in my affliction, otherwise I'd kill myself.

When I first read beaver fever, I didn't know if I should feel bad about laughing and making a joke. But then I realized that this should be taken humorously so here goes:

"beaver fever eh? I know a lot of guys and some girls that have that."

Haha no, please do make jokes. The fact that it's also known as Beaver Fever is just... ridiculous, I mean I guess I know why but it's still a stretch! So weird...

How do they test for those kinds of things? *pretty much ceased eating completely because of after effects of said eating*

As an aside, where did you get the glasses you had in college? I'm gearing up to buy a new pair, and I really liked the ones you had.

For giardiasis and other parasite related problems? Oh, but that's the most fun.

It involves testing a stool sample. And if you've never had to collect portions of your own feces into small vials, let me say... it'll redefine your concept of a shitty day.

Some things can be tested in the blood (like Celiac) it just depends on what kind of thing you're looking for.

Right, I forgot about that. Well... honestly, I don't keep track of where I buy most of the stuff I get. All I know is that anytime I got glasses, it was at wherever I got my eyes tested. So... Lenscrafters, I think?
